I help busy men and women become more capable, adaptable, confident,(aka virtuous) human beings.

I strive to provide my students with simple, effective training and nutrition programs that remove guess work and integrate easily into everyday life.

As someone who loves living life outside of the gym, I understand the demands that everyday life places on you. Between a career, family, and close friends it can be hard to make training and nutrition work for you.

However, the difference that proper training and eating can make in your life is something that cannot be over looked. As a former United States Marine and a current strength and nutrition coach, I have witnessed how big of a game changer strength training and proper nutrition can be for every other area of your life. You become a better spouse, parent, and friend because you have energy and life to invest in others.

Time, lack of planning, motivation, complicated programs, fad diets, and conflicting information on training and nutrition all serve as obstacles to achieving results.

I provide my students with programs and strategies to overcome these obstacles so that they can experience life to the fullest.

Over the past 15 years I’ve experimented with a lot of different fitness methods and trained in a lot of different environments.  I was the guy doing curls in the mirror, getting hate mail from the gym staff for leaving chalk everywhere after a heavy lifting day, trying not to throw up after a CrossFit workout, and doing calisthenics in while deployed in a combat zone.

It all was useful but, I still felt like something was missing so, I did the next logical thing and got certified as a personal trainer, and enrolled in bachelors of science kinesiology program and went to school for four years to learn about physiology, human movement and strength and conditioning.   What I discovered when I went to school and was the specifics of how the human body responds to exercise but, I was STILL searching for something deeper. I was searching for a WHY. Why on earth did this exercise thing matter to me in the first place? I didn’t care about competing in bodybuilding and having six pack abs although I wanted to be lean. I didn’t care about achieving an elite status in powerlifting but I wanted to be strong. I didn’t care about winning the 100m dash but I still wanted to be able to sprint and I certainly didn’t care about running a marathon but I wanted to be able to run a charity 5k without dying.

In short, I just wanted to be a more capable human being.

  • To be able to carry my new wife over the threshold of our tiny apartment.

  • To be strong enough when someone needs help pushing their broken down car out of the road or help moving that solid wood piece of furniture up a flight of stairs.

  • To be mobile/flexible enough to not hurt in the morning when I got out of bed.

  • To be lean enough to feel confident with little or no clothes on.

  • To run fast enough to save my own life or the life of another.

  • To dance at my grandchild’s wedding when I’m in my 80’s

When I took a good hard look at what I wanted, I realized that bodybuilding wasn’t the answer. Powerlifting wasn’t the answer either, Nor was CrossFIt  or Olympic Weightlifting. Here’s the thing, there is nothing wrong with any of these training methodologies and there is a lot that someone can learn from the passion and drive that it takes people who do compete at the highest levels in these strength sports. But, at the end of the day, they are all sports that require a significant amount of time and dedication if you want to excel in them. Most normal people don’t have the time or energy to invest in a sport or an additional hobby.

I know as a husband, father, business owner ( or just a human in this day and age) I am crunched for time, energy, and attention.  The last thing that I want to do is waste my time and energy training in a manner that is not consistent with my goal of being a better, more capable human.  But, my passion for being a better, more capable human didn’t stop with my own training, it turns out that there were a lot of people like me who were searching for someone that would provide them with the tools and instruction necessary to become a better, more capable, physically well-rounded person.  So, here we are and haven’t looked back since.

My style of fitness is for regular everyday people looking for a lifelong, virtuous approach to health and fitness.  I provide an intelligent, sustainable, and functional approach to working out where the focus is on developing holistic strength that carries over into everyday life and creates lasting results through the use of smart sustainable and tailored strength training, cardiovascular conditioning and key nutrition practices.

So that’s my story .  I legitimately care about making you a better, more capable, confident, competent human every single time you workout whether you’ve never set foot in a gym (I wouldn’t blame you) or you are a fitness enthusiast.

Still there?

A little bit about me...

I have pursued my passion of making a difference in people’s lives through health and fitness for over five years. Before that I devoted five years of my life to serving with some of the finest warriors in the world in the United States Marine Corps where I learned a lot about the importance of being physically capable in a lot of different areas. I had to be strong enough to carry a wounded teammate or heavy pack, fast enough to get to safety, and have the endurance to walk long distances. I learned the how to be physically adaptable.

Now, I run The Virtue Strength and Conditioning Studio located at 13520 Perkins Rd. Suite F & G Baton Rouge LA 70810 and coach online. I am married to the love of my life and we have a beautiful baby boy as well as a large white cat and a special German shepherd. I am an amateur donut connoisseur and an expert marksman. Besides being a huge fitness nerd I enjoy cooking healthy meals and spending time outdoors.

My mission is to increase the quality of my client’s lives through health and fitness so that they can experience the life they were meant to live. I don't promise abs in record time or 25 pounds off in the next month (although it happens), but we do make sure you get lean, strong, and healthy in a way that ensures results that are sustainable and permanent.

Hope to meet you soon.

Respectfully,

Luke
